How to embed a Voki into your blog

Voki is a nice website that allows you to create custom avatars that speak. Simply register for free at the site and create your avatar. Once finished you can add a voice either by typing and using the voice engines built into the site, or by using a USB microphone and recording it. Alternatively you can use another recording made elsewhere and upload it to the site.

    Hi John
I’ve just been trying to embed a voki to my blog. Went through all the steps above but only ended up pasting a link to voki website on my blog- any suggestions!

Hi Mike, did you get the quote mark at the end of the path? Check carefully, if that didn’t work, send me a link to your voki and I’ll have a look.

    Thanks John,
I followed each step but didn’t get a quote mark. I don’t know if after step 7 my voki should appear on my web page or if I need to do something else. Do I need to publish the full code? I have only published the path as shown above.

Hi Mike, can you send me a link to your blog and to your Voki? I’m assuming that You’ve got the Flash plugin mentioned in step 5?

    Please help…
In my Text widget I cannot make anything work… anything but text. Not even embed codes.

Also, there is no flash button in my editor. How can I have it, any suggestions?

Hi, for most of the things mentioned you need to install “plugins” to your Worpress installation to extend functionality. I’ve already done that bit for my users.
There is a library at: but you need to have access to your server to install them correctly. Good luck

    Hi John,
I have a free account at – that means I cannot install the plugins, I suppose… Is that so?

I guess that’s the case. Can you send me a link to your blog? If you are an educationalist I might be able to offer you a blog on Creative Blogs.

I think I am having the same problem as Mike above. I have the wordpress code and each time I embed it just posts a link to the voki site. Do I post the whole code or not?

Hi Charlotte, assuming you have Java enabled on your blog, choosing the “Other (JavaScript)” code and pasting that in its entirety should work. Make sure you post it under the HTML tab if you are putting it into a post, or, if pasting into a text widget, try updating before closing the widget window. Where’s your blog hosted?

I had my class of 5th Graders each make a Voki and save the html code into a Google Doc for me to use later.

Now, I am trying to embed each Voki html into my blog. However, once I get a few in, all the Voki Avatars start repeating. The Voki characters are all copies of the first one I copy and pasted. Any suggestions?
